Fist de Yuma - March 16, 2000

Honeymoon

There are days that start off slow and build. Yesterday was one of them. After a quick trip to BDC I sold off and went to Mayoi for on my daily trip for stones.

I ported from there into BDC and got a message from Ur III. He and his new bride wanted to try BDC. If I had remembered that he and Miss Outlaw were low 20's level I might have tried to talk them out of it. I asked him to meet me at the Tou-Tou LS.

I forgot that there was two LS's in Tou-Tou. After a little running we were all together. The party was Weaksoul, Ur III and Sassy (Miss Outlaw). I made a portal but Ur III missed something or lagged. I had to port back to get him.

We all got together and I offered my services as guide. Weaksoul said he could take care of them. I said it might take more than one fighter to keep them alive. After the first battle I had to recharge my weapon. I told them to go ahead and I would follow.

After recharging I ran down the passage after them. I got there just as a battle was finishing up. Ur III was dead on the floor. A Worker had got him.

Ur III had tied to the portal so he had no problem getting back. We hunted around and found a body. I messaged him and we guarded until he recovered. He started following our group after that.

What Weaksoul and I did was front the Olthoi while the newlyweds killed them. (Using bows) We finally fought to the first of the steps leading to the jumping pit. I jumped down and they followed.

After a few steps I reached the last step going into the jumping pit. There is a difficult jump that, if made, saved you damage from the jumping pit. Problem is that if you missed you take a lot more damage than many can afford to give.

After I got to the last step I saw they had not followed me. I could hear the archer who was following us tell Ur III to jump. I thought it was to the last step where I was. Instead it was the harder and more dangerous jump. I saw Ur III flash by and got a message on his death.

I made the easy jump to the hallway, ran down to the lesser jump, taking my normal 20 points. Weaksoul and Sassy soon joined me. I told them I would run up and escort Ur III back down to his body.

I ran to the pit, jumped in and ran up the ramp. I jumped across to the step and started running up the twisting turns towards the top, killing a few olthoi's on the way. I picked up Ur III and we headed down, taking a faster and hopefully safer route to his body.

There are a few nymphs and solders on this route but nothing really dangerous for me. I fronted and let Ur III kill them. He made one error of getting too close to me and we had a running battle. Love that sticky.

Then I made an error. I knew there were two workers in a room after a long hallway. In fact I found a noble there once. I did not warn Ur III, assuming he would see the second on his radar. After I engaged the first, he ran pass us to get a better angle on shooting. He ran right to where the second one would come.

I tried to message a warning but it was too late. Shortly after Ur III was dead and again. I ran back up and got him. As we had cleared out the route beforehand we were able to quickly get to the bottom.

I told him to wait, as there are a lot of ambushes from Olthois jumping down from the upper steps. I went in and nothing attacked me and the radar was clear. Called him over and was about to explain the options on getting into the jumping pit. We were a little slow and the Olthios ambushed us. One jumped him and killed him right off. I killed it and two solders, a worker and a nymph jumped me.

It took me a little bit to finish them off and run all the way back up to get Ur III. We fought back down again.

At the bottom we found a fighter fighting a worker with a nymph on his back. I killed the nymph and tried to do a quick heal on him. The heal would not go off. I then saw the fighter was a PK and I was not allowed to heal him. (Little warning there.)

We jumped down and Ur III finally got his body from the first death. We cleared out the bottom section without problems. I ask Ur III and Sassy if they had seen the pit. They hadn't so I took them over to it. The pit is Archers paradise. It is a big square hole that spawns Solders and a Noble. It is not totally safe as stuff spawns there but most of them fall into the pit trying to get to the archers.

As Weaksoul could protect them ok I jumped into the pit to do a little hunting.

How to get rid a leach.

I ran up the ramp to where the Noble spawns. There were two players there. A 42lv mage and the 44lv fighter I had met the day before. Valere or something like that. She felt she had no chance at getting the noble so she left. I went down the ramp to settle in back of the drainer. I messaged him "I will back up your tanking of the noble." Of course there was no way he was going to tank a noble. He got the idea I was not going to give him the Noble and ported out.

I waited a few minutes and decided to check the top of the ramp. Workers have been running down and attacking from the rear when a Noble battle starts. I found one and killed it. I was about to return to the Noble when a mid level ran up with the Noble on his tail. He ran off the ledge with my noble. Damn.

I went back down the ramp to the other Noble spot. There I found an old friend, a high level archer. When the Noble spawns he kills it very fast. Ur III was cheering me on but I knew I had no chance against an archer.

I went back up the ramp to see if I could get the second spawn of the Noble I had missed. My old friend and a good tank arrived. Now, if it was just my friend I could have worked something out but a tank/archer pair gave me no bargaining room. I headed to the upper levels to hunt.

So far I had very little loot or XP to show for my trip. I was already burning mana stones on items. It seems like each day BDC gets fuller of ppl's. Have to find a way back to the Vault.

I hunted the upper levels until I was at the edge of the jumping pit. It seemed like there were not many there so I jumped down. I got a few kills on solders and cleared out the little stuff. A leach tried to follow me but I shook him.

The Noble spawns in the hall but the bow-using/leach used a trick to get it. This trick is no longer as useful because of sticky. The trick goes like this. An archer sets up behind the wall a few feet from where the Noble spawns. After the Noble spawns he runs to another wall. The Noble follows him around a turn and into a long wide passage way. He then runs into a room that has a broken wall. The Noble runs against the wall and the bow-user shoots it.

A fighter standing right next to the spawn point gets nothing before the patch. He chased and got no hits in. After it gets to the wall he cannot out hit an archer 12 or more levels below him. In this manner a 22lv bow-user can take a Noble a 37lv fighter cannot fight. (Fix the wall!)

After the patch a fighter gets a lot of hits in on the Noble during the run. Enough to make the difference in looting rights. Also a 22lv bow-user dies a lot trying to do this, whereas before it was safe. The 22lv bow-users are mostly gone now.

Anyway, I'm chasing the Noble and getting in a lot of good hits. By the time we get to the end of the passageway I have it half dead. The bow-user does not shake the noble and it runs into the room with him. The bow-user is running for his life with no way out. I have it just about dead when I lag.

Looters

I come out of lag just time to see Paco' looting my kill. I asked him what is he doing as it is the bow-user that insists on everyone respecting kills. He said no one was looting so he did. I told him about the lag and he said he was sorry but did not give me my loot. Getting to be a bad day.

Shortly after this I saw a message that Paco' had been killed. I messaged him that it was karma. He said I might be right and he was going to have to be good.

I did another run though the pit but did not get any kills. Went back to down to the lower level and got a few kills in. There was a big spawn and the first thing I killed was a solder. There was another fighter named Stefanie. He was staying out of the big fights, taking on the nymphs. After the battle was over I went over to my solder kill and found Stefanie looting it. I told him not to loot my kills he then told me to loot it then. Meaning I should have been quicker.

I find looters to be the lowest form of life in this land. Thieves are a big problem, leaches are bad, but a looter gets people killed. Looters cause mistrust in battle. It is so bad that Elder will always loot in battle. We both have the defense to do that. I don't run into too many looters but a low-life like Stefanie really gets under my skin.

Oooooo hell

After this the looters leave and I'm with a bow-user and another unarmed fighter. We get into a big battle with three Solders and a few Workers that ran out of the jumping pit. There are two Solders left when the Noble spawns right in the middle of the battle. I kill the Solder I was fighting and see the unarmed take on the Noble. I had not had time to check his level so I thought he knew what he was doing.

He made all the right moves. He ran around the wall to take the battle away from the others. I tried to follow but the last solder jumped on my rear. I about finished it off when I got a message from the other fighter. "Ooooo shit, this is the Noble!" He thought it was a solder.

I killed the solder and attacked the Noble. Even thou the battle had been going on for over a minute the Noble was at full health! Between the three of us we killed the Noble before it killed him, but it was close. I finally got looting rights to a Noble, first one of the trip. I give the other fighter a major share. His name is Xie-??, I wrote it down but left it in the computer room. Sorry.

Guess I'm seeing where my mind is; I remembered to get the paper with the low-life looter's name but forgot the brave fighter.

Zero tolerance

I ported out of BDC and was by the Lifestone. A player made an insulting comment that I will not repeat. I quickly took a picture and asked him why he would want to get his account banned by doing that? I had an abuse report started. He said he not know I was that touchy.

I'm a retired Marine and have heard and said a lot worse. But my nephews use this game and I would rather not let them hear it. He then started on the old "It is my friends account" lie. I told him I would not report it if he apologized and promised never to do it again. He did and I cleared the abuse report.

Never let actions like this go by. Confront and if that does work report it! Zero tolerance!
