Fist de Yuma - March 27, 2000

A dream come true
There are those that know something is improbable and therefor assume that it is impossible, I know otherwise. For many times I have had a wish for something and soon after that wish was accomplished. Such happened to me this morning.

It began with a problem that became a dilemma and ended in a dream's fulfillment. I had been hunting in the lower section of BDC for a while. I met a good archer and we shared a few kills. We had taken our share of the noble that spawns there as the other two were camped by two mages.

I decided to move to the upper section. The way out is into the pit and up the double ramps and a jump to a step. As I approached the pit I saw an archer firing into it and a group of orange dots. I assumed they were futility trying to get out of the pit while the archer safely killed them.

I jumped into the pit and found myself surrounded by four solders and a noble. Not liking the odds, and knowing that by running into the tunnel I could get them in front of me, I ran. As I entered the tunnel the Noble was stuck to my tail. There were two solders there I had to run around. I stopped but saw I would not stand against so many.

My plan at that point was to run up the ramp and sharply take the turn to the second ramp. This should strip off a few solders and let me fight better odds. Going up the first ramp I saw another solder just before the turn. Now it was getting very likely that I was not going to get out of this.

I ran around the new problem and took my sharp turn hoping the Solders were to slow to make the turn. As I took the turn and headed up the ramp I saw another Noble. "Now this is just to much!" I had always wondered if I could fight two Nobles at a time. It was an improbable dream. A dream about to come true.

I got to the top of the second ramp determined to fight both Nobles and whatever else I had to fight, or die trying. At the top I confronted the two Nobles and a worker that was already at the spot I decided to take my stand at. I had lucked out and no solders had made the turn. I had the two Nobles in front and the worker at my side, the wall to my back.

It was a hard battle and in hindsight I was not hitting well. I found later, that after charging my weapon, I had neglected to remove my Self IV ring and replaced it with my Coordination IV ring. So I was fighting with 25 point less in Coordination, effecting both my Attack skill and Defense skill. Not using magic a Self IV item was not much use.

After the first Noble fell I was forced to drink three bottles each of stamina elixir and heal elixir. After the second Noble fell I was elated, and physically shaking. It was as scary as it comes. I don't remember what items I got off the Nobles and only saw one person run by as I looked over my victory. I assume he thought I had defeated two solders as no one in their right mind fights two Nobles simultaneously. For that matter there are few times when Nobles can be joined for such a battle.

I assumed the horde of solders had delayed the normal gang that attacks a Noble spawn. So the very thing that created my battle kept me alone to fight it.

I had a dream, and I survived the nightmare.
